MeRT

Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy (MeRT) Explained

MeRT (magnetic e-resonance therapy) represents an advancement of rTMS. MeRT individualizes rTMS (repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation). MeRT individualized rTMS treatment to a patient’s inherent brainwave rhythms. Combining a baseline quantitative electroencephalogram (qEEG) and an electrocardiogram (EKG), MeRT produces a treatment protocol for each patient. This individualized treatment delivers targeted and personalized magnetic pulses to the brain.

The equipment used in MeRT is FDA-approved. The treatment protocols are undergoing clinical trials for FDA approval. You can follow the progress of such research here for post-traumatic stress disorder. For research on autism, click here.

Because MeRT can be targeted to different areas of the brain, it is believed to be a more effective use of rTMS for a variety of neurologic conditions. Common to all susceptible conditions is that they cause substantially diminished levels of brain function or behavioral abnormalities.
